Major Landforms of South America

Amazon Basin:

The Amazon Basin covers all the place of the amazonia and the largest forest in the world covers it. Through it, the largest river of the world runs; The Amazon River, which is its major landform.

Andes:

It is a mountain system that extends from the tip of South America to Panama. It is the source of most rivers of the area. Mount Aconcagua is its major landform (6.960 m)

Atacama Desert:

It is located in Chile, in the part of The Andes. It is a cold desert with almost nothing of rain in the whole year. It is like 100 miles wide and 625 miles long. The most important landform is itself (Atacama Desert).

Brazilian Highlands:

It is located in southeastern Brazil. It includes some mountain ranges. The highest and most important landform is Pao de Asucar (Sugar Loaf) with 2.245 m.

Guiana Highlands:

They extend from southern Venezuela all the way to the tip of Brazil. It has 2 major landforms wich are The Angel Falls that is the highest waterfall in the world with 979 m high. The other landform is Mt. Roraima which is on the borders of Brazil, Guyana, and Venezuela. It is 2.810 m high.

Llanos:

The Llanos are located in central and eastern Colombia and in central and southern Venezuela Orinoco River is the major landform of this place.

Pampas:

Located in the southern part of South America , the Pampas are famous because of its cattle ranches. The most impotarnt landform is the Uruguay River.

Patagonia:

The Patagonia is betwen The Andes and the Atlantic Ocean. Negro River is the most landform of this place.
